How to Use Time Machine for Backup and Restore on Mac

What is Time Machine?
Time Machine is a backup feature in Mac OS Mojave that allows you to create incremental backups of your data to an external hard drive. Time Machine will keep hourly, daily, and weekly backups of your data for as long as your external drive has space. This means that if you accidentally delete a file, you can restore it from your Time Machine backup. 1. Connect your external hard drive to your Mac.

2. Launch Time Machine from the Launchpad.

3. Select the external hard drive as the backup destination.
Time Machine will ask you where you want to store your backups. Select the external hard drive from the list of available destinations.

5. Restore files from your Time Machine backup.

6. Restore your entire Mac from a Time Machine backup.
