In Mac OS Mojave, Apple introduced a new feature called Smart Folders. Smart Folders allow you to create dynamic folders that automatically update based on criteria you specify. For example, you could create a Smart Folder that contains all of the files you’ve recently worked on, or all of the files that are larger than 100 MB.

To create a Smart Folder, open a new Finder window and click on the File menu. Then, select New Smart Folder.

In the resulting window, you can specify the criteria for the Smart Folder. For example, you can search for files based on their name, their size, their kind, their extension, their creation date, their modification date, or their content.

You can also specify multiple criteria. For example, you could search for all of the PDF files that you’ve recently worked on.

Once you’ve specified the criteria for the Smart Folder, click on the Save button.

The Smart Folder will be created and will appear in the Finder window. The Smart Folder will automatically update as new files are added or removed that match the criteria you specified.

Assuming you have already set up smart folders on your Mac:

To use smart folders, open a Finder window and click on the Smart Folders option in the sidebar. You will see a list of all the smart folders you have created. To open a smart folder, simply double-click on it.

The contents of the smart folder will be displayed in the main window. You can then browse the contents of the folder just like any other folder.

To search for a specific file or folder in a smart folder, use the search bar at the top of the window. Simply type in the name of the file or folder you are looking for and press Enter.

If you want to save a file to a smart folder, simply drag and drop the file into the smart folder. The file will be automatically sorted into the correct sub-folder based on the criteria you have set.

You can also add files to smart folders from other applications. For example, if you are viewing a file in the Preview app, you can click on the Share button and choose Add to Smart Folder from the menu.

You can also use smart folders to quickly find files that you have recently worked on. To do this, open a smart folder and click on the Recents tab at the top of the window. This will show you a list of all the files you have worked on in the past few days, sorted by date.

You can also choose to include files from specific locations on your hard drive. To do this, click on the + button and select the location you want to include.

When you’re finished, click on the Save button.

To access your Smart Folder, just open the Finder and click on the Smart Folder you created. The Finder will automatically show you all of the files that match your criteria.
