First, let’s open an image that we want to make a selection from. For this tutorial, we’ll use this image of a cupcake:
Next, we’ll select the Selection Brush tool from the Tools panel.
Now we’ll simply brush over the cupcake with the Selection Brush tool to create a selection of it.
Once we’re happy with our selection, we can add a layer mask to it. To do this, we’ll click the “Add Layer Mask” button in the Layers panel.
Now we have a layer mask that is hiding everything in the image except for the cupcake.
We can also use the Selection Brush tool to create a more precise selection. To do this, we’ll first zoom in on the image so that we can see the cupcake more clearly.
Next, we’ll select the Selection Brush tool and then click the “Subtract from selection” button in the Options bar.
Now we can brush over the areas of the cupcake that we don’t want to include in our selection. For example, we can brush over the background or the parts of the cupcake that are in shadow.
When we’re happy with our selection, we can add a layer mask to it in the same way that we did before.
And that’s how to use the Selection Brush tool to create a quick and easy selection of an object in an image!
