How to Use the Channel Mixer Adjustment in Affinity Photo

The Channel Mixer Adjustment is one of the many ways that you can color grade your photos in Affinity Photo. This particular adjustment allows you to mix the channels of an image to create a desired effect. You can use the Channel Mixer Adjustment to change the color balance, increase contrast, or create a black and white image.
Changing the Color Balance
To change the color balance of an image, you will need to adjust the Red, Green, and Blue channels. To do this, open the Channel Mixer Adjustment layer by going to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Channel Mixer.
Next, you will want to select the channel that you want to adjust. For example, if you want to adjust the Red channel, you will want to select the Red channel from the drop-down menu.
Once you have selected the channel, you can use the Red, Green, and Blue sliders to adjust the color balance of the image. You can also select the Preserve Luminosity checkbox to prevent the brightness of the image from changing.
Increasing Contrast
To increase the contrast of an image, you will want to increase the difference between the light and dark pixels. To do this, open the Channel Mixer Adjustment layer by going to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Channel Mixer.
Next, you will want to select the channel that you want to adjust. For example, if you want to adjust the Red channel, you will want to select the Red channel from the drop-down menu.

Creating a Black and White Image

You can also invert the channel by clicking on the “Invert” checkbox. This will cause the channel to be subtracted from the final image, rather than added.
Once you have the channels and percentages the way you want them, click on the “OK” button to apply the changes.
How to Use the Channel Mixer Adjustment in Affinity Photo
Overview
The Channel Mixer is a powerful tool in Affinity Photo that allows you to adjust the brightness, contrast and color of an image. You can use it to correct an image that is too dark or too bright, or to change the color balance.
How to Use the Channel Mixer
- Open an image in Affinity Photo.
- Click the “Adjustments” tab in the top toolbar.
- Click “Channel Mixer” from the list of adjustment options.

Tips

- If you are not happy with the results of the Channel Mixer, you can always undo the changes by clicking the “Undo” button in the top toolbar.
- The Channel Mixer is a non-destructive tool. This means that the changes you make will not permanently alter your image. You can always adjust the settings or remove the adjustment entirely by clicking the “Delete” button in the Channel Mixer panel.
