First, launch the Books app from your Applications folder. The app will ask you to sign in with your Apple ID. This is optional, but if you want to sync your library across devices, you’ll need to sign in.
Next, you’ll see the main Library window. This is where all of your e-books will be stored. To add a new book, click the “+” button in the top-left corner of the window.
You can add e-books in a variety of ways. If you have a book in the ePub or PDF format, you can simply drag and drop it into the Library window. Alternatively, you can click the “Add to Library” button and select the file from your Finder window.
If you’re looking for something to read, the Books app has a built-in store. To access it, click the “Store” button in the top-right corner of the Library window.
In the store, you can browse for new books, either by bestsellers or by categories. When you find a book you’re interested in, click the “Buy” button to purchase it.
Once you’ve added a book to your library, you can read it by double-clicking it in the Library window. The book will open in a new window.
To navigate through the book, you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard, or click the “Table of Contents” button in the top-left corner of the window to jump to specific sections.
If you want to make reading easier on your eyes, you can enable the “Night Theme” in the View menu. This will invert the colors of the book, making the background black and the text white.
When you’re finished reading, you can close the book window. The book will still be in your Library, so you can pick up where you left off next time you open it.

The Books app in Mac OS Mojave has been designed to be your one-stop shop for all your e-book and PDF needs. Here’s how to get started with using the app.
When you first open the app, you’ll be prompted to sign in with your Apple ID. Once you do that, you’ll be able to access all of your purchased e-books and PDFs from Apple’s ecosystem.
If you have e-books in other formats, such as EPUB or MOBI, you can drag and drop them into the app to add them to your library.
The interface of the app is designed to be intuitive and easy to use. The main window is divided into three sections: Library, Store, and Reading Now.
In the Library section, you’ll see all of the e-books and PDFs that you’ve added to the app. You can use the search bar to quickly find a specific title, or you can browse through your collection by cover.
The Store section is where you can buy new e-books and PDFs from Apple. You can also browse through the top charts to see what’s popular, or browse by category.
The Reading Now section is a great way to keep track of what you’re currently reading, as well as what you want to read next. You can add e-books and PDFs to this section by clicking the + button in the top-right corner.
When you’re ready to start reading, simply click on the title of the e-book or PDF that you want to open. The app will automatically open it in the appropriate format.
If you’re reading an e-book, you can use the toolbar at the bottom of the window to control your reading experience. You can adjust the font size, change the theme, add bookmarks, and more.
PDFs work a bit differently. You can’t adjust the font size, but you can use the built-in annotation tools to highlight important passages, add notes, and more.
When you’re done reading, simply close the window and your place will be saved automatically. The next time you open the app, you can pick up right where you left off.
