At Google I/O 2018, the company announced a new feature called “Digital Wellbeing” for Android P. This feature is designed to help users understand and take control of their phone usage. The Digital Wellbeing Dashboard is a part of this feature, and it shows you how much time you’re spending on your phone, which apps you’re using the most, and how many times you’re picking up your phone.
If you have a Google Pixel 7a, you can use the Digital Wellbeing Dashboard to see your phone usage statistics and set limits for yourself. Here’s how to use it.
First, open the Settings app on your Pixel 7a. Then, tap “Digital Wellbeing & parental controls.”
On the next screen, you’ll see your phone usage statistics. Swipe up to see more statistics, including a graph of your usage over time, a list of the apps you use the most, and how many times you’ve picked up your phone.
Tap on an app to see more detailed statistics about your usage. For example, you can see how many times you’ve opened the app, how much time you’ve spent in the app, and how many notifications you’ve received from the app.
If you want to set a limit for yourself, tap on “App timers” and then select an app. You can set a daily limit for the app, and when you reach your limit, the app will be greyed out and you won’t be able to use it.
You can also set a “Wind Down” schedule, which will turn on Do Not Disturb mode and turn your screen to grayscale at a certain time every day. This is designed to help you reduce your screen time before bed.
To turn on the Wind Down schedule, go to the Settings app and tap “Display.” Then, scroll down and tap on “Wind Down.” Turn on the toggle switch, and then set a schedule.
