How to Adjust Brightness and Contrast in Adobe Photoshop

If you want to adjust the brightness and contrast of an image in Adobe Photoshop there are a few things that you need to do. First, you need to open the image that you want to adjust in Adobe Photoshop. Once the image is open, you need to go to the “Image” menu and select “Adjustments” and then “Brightness/Contrast”.
When the “Brightness/Contrast” dialogue box appears, you will see two sliders. The first slider is for brightness and the second slider is for contrast. You can adjust each slider to increase or decrease the brightness and contrast of the image.
If you want to preview the changes that you are making, you can check the “Preview” checkbox. When you are happy with the changes, you can click “OK” to apply the changes to the image.
If you have an image that’s too dark or too light, you can use the Brightness/Contrast adjustment to fix it. Here’s how:
1. Open your image in Photoshop.
2. Go to Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast.
3. In the Brightness/Contrast dialog box, move the Brightness slider to the right to make the image brighter, or to the left to make it darker.
4. Move the Contrast slider to the right to increase contrast, or to the left to decrease contrast.
5. When you’re done, click OK.
You can also use the Levels adjustment to adjust brightness and contrast. Levels is a more powerful tool than Brightness/Contrast, but it can be a bit more difficult to use.
1. Open your image in Photoshop.
2. Go to Image > Adjustments > Levels.
3. In the Levels dialog box, you’ll see a graph of the image’s tonal range.
4. The black triangle at the left end of the graph represents the darkest tones in the image, the white triangle at the right end represents the lightest tones, and the gray triangle in the middle represents the midtones.
5. To adjust the black point, click on the black triangle and drag it to the right until it’s at the point where the histogram starts to curve upward.
6. To adjust the white point, click on the white triangle and drag it to the left until it’s at the point where the histogram starts to curve downward.
7. To adjust the midpoint, click on the gray triangle and drag it to the left or right until the image looks the way you want it to.

In Photoshop, you can adjust image brightness and contrast in a number of ways. One of the most common is to use the Levels command.

If you want to reset the image levels, click the “Auto” button. You can also click the “Default” button to reset the image to its original state.
When you’re finished adjusting the image levels, click “OK” to apply the changes.
Another way to adjust image brightness and contrast is to use the Brightness/Contrast command.
To access the Brightness/Contrast command, go to Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast. You can also access the Brightness/Contrast command by pressing Command + Option + B (Mac) / Control + Alt + B (Win).
When the Brightness/Contrast dialog box appears, you’ll see two sliders: one for brightness and one for contrast.
To adjust image brightness, move the brightness slider to the left to make the image darker or to the right to make the image lighter.
To adjust image contrast, move the contrast slider to the left to decrease contrast or to the right to increase contrast.
If you want to reset the image brightness and contrast, click the “Reset” button.
When you’re finished adjusting the image, click “OK” to apply the changes.
If you want more control over how you adjust image brightness and contrast, you can use the Curves command.
To access the Curves command, go to Image > Adjustments > Curves. You can also access the Curves command by pressing Command + Option + M (Mac) / Control + Alt + M (Win).
When the Curves dialog box appears, you’ll see a graph that represents the image’s tonal range.

You can also adjust image brightness and contrast using the Exposure command.
To access the Exposure command, go to Image > Adjustments > Exposure. You can also access the Exposure command by pressing Command + Option + E (Mac) / Control + Alt + E (Win).
When the Exposure dialog box appears, you’ll see two sliders: one for exposure and one for gamma correction.
To adjust image brightness, move the exposure slider to the left to make the image darker or to the right to make the image lighter.
To adjust image contrast, move the gamma correction slider to the left to decrease contrast or to the right to increase contrast.
If you want to reset the image exposure and gamma correction, click the “Reset” button.
When you’re finished adjusting the image, click “OK” to apply the changes.
No matter which method you use to adjust image brightness and contrast in Photoshop, you’ll likely need to experiment a bit to get the results you’re looking for. But with a little practice, you’ll be able to get the hang of it in no time.
