Hive Window and Door Sensors: Installation and Troubleshooting Guide

It’s easy to install and start using your Hive Window and Door Sensors. Here are some quick installation tips:

1. Place your Hive Window and Door Sensor on the inside of the window or door frame, about 10-15cm (4-6 inches) from the top. If you have a door, make sure the sensor is placed on the frame, not the door itself.

2. Use the included double-sided tape to secure the sensor in place.

3. Once the sensor is in place, open the Hive app and follow the instructions to add your new sensor.

Your Hive Window and Door Sensor uses Zigbee technology to connect to your Hive Hub. If you’re having trouble connecting your sensor, here are a few tips:

1. Make sure your Hive Hub is powered on and connected to your home’s Wi-Fi network.

2. If you have multiple Hive Hubs in your home, try connecting the sensor to a different Hive Hub.

3. If you’re still having trouble, please contact our support team for assistance.

Once your Hive Window and Door Sensor is successfully connected, you can start using it to receive alerts when a window or door is opened or closed. If you’re not receiving alerts as expected, here are a few troubleshooting tips:

1. Make sure the Hive app is open and running in the background on your mobile device.

2. Make sure you have push notifications enabled for the Hive app.

3. Check the battery level of your Hive Window and Door Sensor. If the battery is low, replace it with a new CR2032 coin cell battery.

4. If you’re still not receiving alerts, please contact our support team for assistance.

Hive Window and Door Sensors: Installation and Troubleshooting Guide

If you’re experiencing issues with your Hive Window or Door Sensors, here are some tips to help you get up and running again.

First, check the batteries. Low batteries are the most common cause of issues with Hive sensors. If the batteries are low, simply replace them and try again.

If the issue is not with the batteries, the next step is to check the connection between the sensor and the hub. Start by ensuring that the hub is powered on and connected to your home network. Then, open the Hive app and check that the sensor is showing as online in the app.

If the sensor is offline, try restarting it by removing and then re-inserting the batteries. If that doesn’t work, you may need to reset the sensor by holding down the reset button for 10 seconds.

Once you’ve confirmed that the sensor is online and connected to the hub, you can start the installation process. First, choose a location for the sensor. It should be mounted to the frame of the door or window, about 4-6 inches from the edge.

Next, use the included mounting tape to secure the sensor in place. Then, open the Hive app and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

If you’re still having trouble, Hive’s customer support team is available to help. You can reach them by phone or chat Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm EST.

There are a few things to keep in mind when installing your Hive Window or Door Sensors:

2. The sensor should be placed at least 4 inches (10 centimeters) from the edge of the door or window.

3. The sensor should be placed at least 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) from any metal objects.

4. The sensor should be placed at least 3 feet (1 meter) from any radio frequency interference sources, such as microwave ovens or wireless routers.

5. The sensor should be placed in an area with good cellular or Wi-Fi coverage.

Once you’ve found the perfect location for your sensor, follow these instructions to install it:

1. Open the battery compartment by sliding the cover off.

2. Insert the included AAA batteries into the battery compartment, making sure to follow the (+/-) symbols.

3. Close the battery compartment.

4. Peel off the adhesive backing on the sensor and attach it to the window or doorframe.

5. Press and hold the button on the sensor for 5 seconds. The LED will flash green to indicate that the sensor is ready to be added to your system.

If you’re experiencing issues with your Window or Door Sensors, there are a few things you can do to try and troubleshoot the issue.

First, check to make sure that the sensor is properly installed and that the magnet is placed correctly. The magnet should be placed on the door or window frame, and the sensor should be placed on the door or window itself. If the magnet is not placed correctly, the sensor may not work properly.

Next, check the battery level of the sensor. The sensor uses a CR2032 battery, which should last for about a year. If the battery is low, replace it with a new one.

Finally, check the signal strength of the sensor. The sensor uses Zigbee to communicate with the hub, and the signal strength can be affected by things like walls and other electronic devices. If the signal is weak, try moving the sensor to a different location.
