How to Enable and Use Do Not Disturb Mode on Google Pixel 7a
Posted on 16th June 2023
Overview
Google’s Do Not Disturb mode is a great way to silence your phone when you don’t want to be interrupted. When enabled, all incoming calls, texts, and notifications will be silenced. You can even schedule Do Not Disturb mode to activate automatically at certain times, like when you’re sleeping or in a meeting. In this article, we’ll show you how to enable and use Do Not Disturb mode on your Google Pixel 7a.
Enabling Do Not Disturb Mode
There are two ways to enable Do Not Disturb mode on your Google Pixel 7a: from the Quick Settings menu or from the Settings app. To access the Quick Settings menu, swipe down from the top of the screen. Then, tap the Do Not Disturb icon (it looks like a crescent moon).
Alternatively, you can open the Settings app and tap “Sound.” From here, tap “Do Not Disturb.”
Configuring Do Not Disturb Mode
Once you’ve enabled Do Not Disturb mode, you can customize it to better suit your needs. For example, you can allow certain types of notifications to come through, like alarms or reminders. You can also choose how long Do Not Disturb mode should stay enabled.
To customize Do Not Disturb mode, open the Settings app and tap “Sound.” Then, tap “Do Not Disturb.” Under the “Calls” section, you can choose whether to allow calls from anyone, contacts only, or no one. You can also allow repeat callers to bypass Do Not Disturb mode.
Under the “Messages” section, you can choose whether to allow messages from anyone, contacts only, or no one. You can also allow messages from starred contacts to bypass Do Not Disturb mode.
Under the “Notifications” section, you can choose whether to allow notifications from any app, priority only, or no apps. You can also allow certain types of notifications to bypass Do Not Disturb mode, like alarms or reminders.
Finally, under the “Scheduled” section, you can choose whether to enable Do Not Disturb mode automatically at certain times, like when you’re sleeping or in a meeting. You can also choose how long Do Not Disturb mode should stay enabled.
Using Do Not Disturb Mode
Once you’ve enabled and configured Do Not Disturb mode, using it is easy. Just swipe down from the top of the screen to access the Quick Settings menu and tap the Do Not Disturb icon. Alternatively, you can open the Settings app and tap “Sound.” Then, tap “Do Not Disturb.”
When Do Not Disturb mode is enabled, you’ll see a crescent moon icon in the status bar. This icon will be solid if you’ve set Do Not Disturb mode to activate automatically at certain times. If you see a crescent moon icon with a line through it, this means Do Not Disturb mode is enabled but you’ve allowed certain types of notifications to come through.
Assuming you’ve already set up Do Not Disturb mode on your Google Pixel 7a (see the first article for instructions on how to do this), you can now use it to silence all incoming calls, texts, and other notifications. When Do Not Disturb is enabled, your phone will not make any sound or vibrate, and all incoming calls will go straight to voicemail. You can also set Do Not Disturb to turn on automatically at certain times, or when you’re driving.
If you need to make an emergency call, you can still do so even when Do Not Disturb is enabled. Just enter *#31# on your keypad, and you’ll be able to call emergency services.
To disable Do Not Disturb, just go to Settings > Sound > Do Not Disturb and turn it off. You can also turn off Do Not Disturb by swiping down from the top of your screen and tapping the Do Not Disturb icon.
When you enable Do Not Disturb mode on your Google Pixel 7a, all incoming calls, messages, and alerts will be silenced. You can still make phone calls and use data, but your phone will not make any sounds or notifications.

Alarms Only: This will allow alarms to sound, but all other sounds will be silenced.
Priority Only: This will allow sounds and vibrations for select contacts, events, and reminders. You can choose which contacts can break through Do Not Disturb mode by tapping “Priority Contacts.”
You can also schedule Do Not Disturb mode to turn on and off automatically. To do this, tap “Scheduled.” Then, set the start and end times for Do Not Disturb mode.
If you need to use your phone while Do Not Disturb mode is enabled, you can turn on the “Allow exceptions” option. This will allow you to make phone calls and use data while Do Not Disturb mode is active.
You can also enable the “Do Not Disturb while driving” option. This will silence all incoming calls and notifications while you’re driving. You can choose to have Do Not Disturb while driving turn on automatically, or you can manually turn it on by tapping the Do Not Disturb icon in the Quick Settings menu.
