What You’ll Need
Before you get started, there are a few things you’ll need to have on hand. Firstly, you’ll need the Hive Hub. This is the central device that connects all of your Hive products together and allows them to communicate with one another. If you don’t have a Hive Hub already, you can purchase one here.
You’ll also need to make sure you have a power source for your Hive Active Camera. If you’re planning on using the camera outdoors, we recommend opting for the Hive Solar Panel. This handy accessory allows you to power your camera using solar energy, so you don’t have to worry about running any unsightly cables through your garden.
Finally, you’ll need to download the Hive app. This is available for both iOS and Android devices, and you can find it by searching for ‘Hive Home’ in the App Store or Google Play Store.
Setting Up Your Camera
Now that you have everything you need, it’s time to get started with setting up your Hive Active Camera. The first thing you’ll need to do is create a Hive account and sign in to the app. Once you’re signed in, tap the ‘+’ icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen and select ‘Camera’ from the list of available products.
On the next screen, you’ll be asked to choose a location for your camera. If you’re setting up the camera outdoors, we recommend selecting ‘Outside’. Once you’ve done this, tap ‘Continue’.
On the next screen, you’ll be asked to give your camera a name. This can be anything you like, so have fun with it! Once you’ve chosen a name, tap ‘Continue’.
The next screen will ask you to connect your camera to the Hive Hub. To do this, simply place your camera next to the Hive Hub and wait for the app to detect it. Once the app has detected your camera, tap ‘Continue’.
On the next screen, you’ll be asked to choose how you want to power your camera. If you’re using the Hive Solar Panel, select ‘Solar Panel’ from the list of options. Otherwise, select ‘Power Adapter’. Once you’ve made your selection, tap ‘Continue’.
The final screen will give you a summary of everything you’ve just set up. Once you’re happy with everything, tap ‘Finish’ to complete the process.
And that’s it! You’ve now successfully set up your Hive Active Camera for outdoor security.
