Posted on 19th June 2023

Overview

The suggestions bar is a new feature in Microsoft To Do on Windows 11 that makes it easy to find and act on your to-dos. When you open To Do, the suggestions bar will show up at the top of your list view, above your to-dos.

Suggestions

The suggestions bar will show you three different kinds of suggestions:

  • Today – Suggestions for things you need to do today
  • Upcoming – Suggestions for things you need to do in the future
  • Suggestions – Suggestions for things you may want to do, based on your past behavior in To Do

You can click on any of the suggestions in the bar to open up a details view for that suggestion. In the details view, you’ll see more information about the suggestion, as well as any actions you can take on it.

For example, if a suggestion is for a task you need to do today, the details view will show you the due date and time, as well as any other details you’ve entered for that task. If the task is something you need to do in the future, the details view will show you the date and time it’s due, as well as any other details you’ve entered for that task.

Actions

The suggestions bar will also show you some actions you can take on your suggestions. For example, if a suggestion is for a task you need to do today, you’ll see an “Add to My Day” button that you can click to add the task to your day.

If a suggestion is for a task you need to do in the future, you’ll see a “Schedule” button that you can click to schedule the task for a specific day and time.

You can also click the “…” button next to any suggestion to see more actions you can take, such as adding the task to a list, setting a reminder, or adding more details.

Dismissing Suggestions

If you don’t want to see a suggestion anymore, you can click the “X” button next to it to dismiss the suggestion. Once you dismiss a suggestion, it will no longer show up in the suggestions bar.

Turning Off the Suggestions Bar

If you don’t want to see the suggestions bar, you can turn it off by clicking the “…” button at the top of the suggestions bar and then selecting “Turn off suggestions.”
