In this article, we’ll show you how to enable and use Screen Time on your Mac.

What is Screen Time?

Screen Time is a new feature in MacOS Mojave that provides you with detailed information about how you use your Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

It tracks your usage patterns and provides you with insights into your overall technology use. It also allows you to set limits on your usage and track your progress over time.

Screen Time is designed to help you improve your digital well-being by making more informed decisions about your technology use.

How to Enable Screen Time

Screen Time is disabled by default on your Mac. To enable it, open the System Preferences app and click on the “Screen Time” icon.

Click the “Turn On Screen Time” button to enable the feature.

Once Screen Time is enabled, you’ll see a new “Screen Time” section in the System Preferences app.

How to Use Screen Time

The Screen Time section in the System Preferences app is where you can view your usage statistics and configure your usage limits.

To view your usage statistics, click on the “Usage” tab. Here, you’ll see a graph that shows you how much time you’ve spent on your Mac over the last 24 hours or 7 days.

You can also see a breakdown of your usage by app and website. To view this information, click on the “Apps” or “Websites” tab.

To configure your usage limits, click on the “Limits” tab. Here, you can set daily limits for specific apps and websites.

You can also set “Downtime” limits, which will block access to all apps and websites during a specified period of time.

To learn more about Screen Time, click the “Learn More” button in the Screen Time section of the System Preferences app.

This will open the Apple Support website, where you can find additional information about the feature.

Assuming you have already updated to Mojave, the first thing you need to do is open up System Preferences. You can do this by clicking on the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen and then selecting “System Preferences”.

Once you are in System Preferences, you need to click on the “Screen Time” icon.

Screen Time is going to ask you if you want to share your usage across all of your devices. If you have other Apple devices, it might be helpful to turn this on so that you can see your overall usage. If you don’t have other Apple devices, or you don’t want to share your usage, you can just turn this off.

Once you have decided whether or not to share your usage, you need to click on the “Options” button in the bottom left corner of the Screen Time window.

In the Options window, you need to make sure that the “Share Across Devices” option is turned off. If it’s not, Screen Time won’t work properly.

Once you have turned off the “Share Across Devices” option, you need to click on the “Start” button in the bottom right corner of the Options window.

Screen Time is now set up and ready to use. To see how much time you’re spending on your Mac, you just need to click on the “Reports” tab at the top of the Screen Time window.

On the Reports tab, you’ll see a graph that shows you how much time you’ve spent on your Mac each day. You can also see how much time you’ve spent on specific apps and websites.

If you want to see more detailed reports, you can click on the “Weekly Report” or “Monthly Report” buttons.

If you want to set up limits for yourself, you can click on the “App Limits” tab at the top of the Screen Time window.

On the App Limits tab, you can click on the “Add Limit” button.

In the Add Limit window, you need to select the “Category” that you want to limit. For example, if you want to limit the amount of time you spend on social media, you would select the “Social Networking” category.

Once you’ve selected the category, you need to enter the amount of time you want to spend on it each day. For example, if you want to spend no more than 1 hour on social media each day, you would enter “60” in the “Time Limit” field.

Once you’ve entered the time limit, you need to click on the “Add” button.

Your limit will now be added to the App Limits tab. You can add multiple limits for different categories.

To remove a limit, you just need to click on the “-” button next to it.

If you want to completely disable Screen Time, you can click on the “Turn Off Screen Time” button at the bottom of the Screen Time window.
